Felipe’s PhD project focused on the effects of fishing on the abundance, size and species composition of coral reef fish assemblages in Northeastern Brazil. His faculty mentor was Dr. Leandro Castello. Felipe’s professional expertise lies in themes such as stock assessment, population dynamics, fish ecology and fisheries management. He holds a Bachelor in Oceanography by the Federal University of Rio Grande, Brazil and Masters in Freshwater Biology and Inland Fisheries by the National Institute for Amazonian Research, Brazil. Felipe holds a broad understanding of freshwater and marine ecosystems through research projects focused on economic important fisheries such as the arapaima in the central Amazonian floodplain and the argentine anchovy in the southern Brazilian sea, which presents a high exploitation potential.
